Recently in June this year, I attended the Scarlett and Jo Thank You day. This was a day filled with a model shoot where your hair and make up was done and you got to dress up in lots of their dresses! Not only was it such an amazing day feeling beautiful in your own skin and celebrating all different shapes and sizes, I got to make new friends which was such a lovely bonus!

The location for the shoot was held at Chandos House in London which was a Grade 1 listed building. There was access to the garden, the terrace room and drawing rooms which presented themselves as wonderful backdrops for the photos.

I’ll admit it, when I first applied, I never thought I’d actually be chosen to participate in the modelling competition. Yes that’s right, a modelling competition! But when I got there and settled in, my nerves had gone and the ladies I had met were so lovely and friendly, it definitely didn’t feel awkward!

I must admit, I had no clue how to model professionally. But I guess you don’t know till you try right?! So I just got stuck right into it! I forgot about everyone around me and just went for it, giving it my best shot. To add to this, what they styled me in was something I would never have chosen before, but I loved both outfits! It’s amazing what could work when another pair of eyes are styling you.

Unfortunately, the day was one of the hottest EVER and air-con was non existent so in the second shoot I am not looking my best due to sweating absolute buckets! But the first shot (shown above), I am in love with and one of these photos has since appeared on Scarlett and Jo’s Instagram page.

All in all, the day was definitely something I will never forget and I am totally applying next year. For anyone who is interested in the event, I would really recommend doing it! It was a good confident booster and you got to meet so many inspirational women, I love it!
