I realise that this post is coming to you massively late (I went around Europe in August) but I thought, well it’s better late than never right?!
So myself and my partner went round Europe for 10 days in the summer on a coach trip and it was the best thing ever! Now I know what you are thinking, yikes! On a coach?! But it really wasn’t that bad, and I have back problems which doesn’t allow me to sit that long and I was totally fine!
The days were long and jam packed but we saw it all and it was amazingly organised by a company called Expat Explore. The tour guide, called Gustavo, was amazingly brilliant and his knowledge of every single place we went to was outstanding! You could not fault his level of customer service. He always made sure you were ok and so accommodating to your needs. Gustavo, originally from Portugal, knew how to speak English, Spanish, Italian, a little bit of French as well as his native language, Portuguese! How amazingly wonderful is that! So you really did feel safe and secure knowing that if you cannot communicate with the locals, someone is on standby for help.
Additionally, we obviously couldn’t get very far without a coach driver! For our journey, we had a lovely German man called Jo! And boy did he have some tough drives! From driving through the mountains in Switzerland and having a massive tailback of cars behind because we were driving slow (after all a coach doesn’t go that fast up hill yano!), it was trying to navigate the small, tight streets of Paris. Oh and not to mention those crazy drivers in Italy! My my my! But, at every point he was faced with a difficult situation, he kept calm and knew what to do. His experience of driving heavy duty vehicles was phenomenal! Oh and not to mention his taste in music, he had an 80’s mega mix album playing which really got you toe tapping along the journey!
Ok so you’re probably wondering where we went right?! Well in 10 days we hit the following places: Paris, Beaune, Swiss Alps, Pisa, Tuscany, Florence, Venice, Innsbruck, Munich, Rhine Valley, Amsterdam and Bruges! That’s 7 countries… In 10 days! It’s insane right?! Well it really was! The days were long and the travelling was tiring but you stopped every so often for a break and to stretch your legs. Yes you were running around like a headless chicken sometimes because you had a short time limit to see certain stuff (plus it was August and everywhere was so busy!) but it was amazing because at the end of the night when you led down to go to sleep, you couldn’t believe how much you saw in one day!
And to top it all off, myself and my partner made friends for life. There were people on the coach from all different nationalities and countries and from all walks of life. We all became a massive family who shared knowledge, sat next to each other for dinner and told each other who we were and what our life story was so far. That I think, was the greatest part about my trip overall. I started the journey thinking it would just be my partner I’d mostly talk/interact with, but I ended up with a bunch of friends who all wanted to sit and share stories with one another. How amazing is that?!
So if you are ever thinking of doing a coach trip or are wanting to explore Europe, please consider Expat Explore. I couldn’t recommend them enough! If you don’t believe me, have a look at just some of the amazing photos I took during the 10 days!
As always, love to you all.
Sweet 2 the Cheeks xo
