Recently, I graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration. Doing a Master’s was never originally in my ‘life plan’ but I am so grateful for having the opportunity as it has opened so many doors for me!
Don’t get me wrong, it has not been easy. I had to balance uni work, my part time job and running a house! It was very stressful at times, I was finishing one essay and then working on another one straight away. The course pushed me to my limit, it made me go beyond my comfort zone and I exceeded my own personal expectations on what I could achieve!
At first, I was unsure as to whether to take the bursary offer. While the course would be totally free, could I do it? Could I actually put myself through university all over again? The thing which made me the most apprehensive was the accountancy modules. At school, I hated mathematics. Anything to do with numbers = wasn’t interested. This course had two accountancy modules, which used Microsoft Excel as well! Uh oh, not a good combo for Ellie!
The thing is, if I had never took on the challenge, I’d have never known the outcome. This is what I said to myself before finally coming a decision as to whether to accept the offer or not. And do you know what? I did those accountancy modules and I passed them with flying colours! I learnt new things,I gained new skills and most importantly, I felt confident using numbers!
So the thing is, when it comes to opportunities, I’d say take them. You never know what will happen and you never know what doors it will open for you! Yes the road will be hard and stressful, but it is seriously worth it in the end. It’s also rewarding for yourself. I have a degree and a master’s No-one can ever take that away from me, ever.
So when times are tough and you think ‘fuck this, I can’t do it’ YES YOU CAN! Follow your dreams, reach those goals and succeed in life! After all, you deserve it!
Here are some photos of me on my big day!
So what’s next might you ask?! Well, who knows! The world is my oyster!
Until next time my lovelies! x
