Lumberjack’in the shit out of winter 2016!

Apologies if you are easily offended by swear words, but I felt the above post had to be titled like that!

It’s October, it’s cold, it’s dark, which can only mean one thing… Lumberjack shirt time! These shirts are my favourite and in my eyes, are a must have to get you through a British winter. Here are some of my favourite picks from this season:

Before I begin, I just wanna say that some people may not class all of these shirts as ‘lumberjack’ shirts but whenever I put one on with my jeans and boots, I feel like saying to my boyfriend ‘grab me my axe babe I’m off to cut us some wood for the fire’ – So, if you feel the same as me, you will also class them as lumberjack shirts. If you don’t then, press the escape button now!

  1. This is a classic

This Primark shirt has GOT to be a bargain at £6. It is probably the cheapest, minus scouring the charity shops, lumberjack shirt you could buy! The red is so bright and it works great with some dark jeans. The ones I’m wearing are from New Look. I wouldn’t tailor the shirt with leggings as it is a little short so it doesn’t really cover your bum! However, if you’re brave enough to show off your knickers then go ahead! I however, do not want to upset people when they see my granny pants through my leggings!

2. I love burgundy

This one is from Simply Be and oh my god the cut is brilliant. Usually I have to size up for shirts because they are tight on my boobs but this one was perfect on my boobs! It is short though so if you’re not a fan of this then it may not be the one for you. I tailored it with my brown boots from Simply Be and my New Look high waisted jeans.

3. The amazingly bright pink shirt

I’m not too sure if the colour suits me so don’t think this shirt is the right one for me! This one is from Evans and it is in their Pear fit collection but even if you are not ‘pear shaped’ you could still pull it off. Personally for me, it is a little tight around the bust area so I’d definitely say size up if you are big around that particular area!

3. The purple and white shirt

This one is again from the Evan’s pear fit collection. I prefer this one over the pink one as I think the darker colour suit my body shape. However, that is just my personal opinion. I also love how you can roll up the sleeves on this shirt! The cute little button hook half way up the sleeve allows the sleeves to stay rolled up while you’re getting down and dirty chopping that wood! Cause you’re a lumberjack right?! Or in reality, when it’s Saturday afternoon and you’ve been roped into doing some gluing and sticking with your nephews!

4. You can’t go wrong with black

The colour black is such a classic. Whether someone is dead, or your soul is slowly dying at work, you can just wear black. It goes with everything! This one is again from Simply Be and is so flattering! Adding the tan brown boots slightly brightens the look up without making it look too much. However, again the shirt is quite short and you therefore might be slightly put off by this if you like something covering your bum!

5. The casual look

I could wearing leggings all day, every day. That’s why I just LOVE this lumberjack shirt from Matalan! It’s so casual you can just pop this one on with some leggings, some brown brogues and off out of the door you go! This was from their normal range and not their plus size and to be honest, I could have gone down a size as it’s pretty baggy. I love the rust pattern it has on it and I think it blends really well with brown brogues!

6. Lumberjack meets Pinafore dress

My final look is this red textured lumberjack shirt from Matalan. I love how bright this one is and like look number 5 above, it’s from their normal range and is slightly baggy. I think teaming this with my pinafore denim dress really smartens up the look and would make a great outfit if you were going out for lunch or having day of retail therapy!
