Hello everyone!
As some of you know from my other social media accounts, I have recently just finished a Master’s. While online it may look like I live a happy and a bubbly life, I have had a really difficult year. So let me tell you all about my world-wind of a journey to where I am now!
Undergraduate to Postgraduate
So back in April 2015, I submitted my final piece of work for my undergraduate degree. This was a 10,000 worded project which I worked on for 8 months whilst also balancing 8 other modules at the same time! To add to the stress, I was also battling an illness called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but I will talk more about this later!
Now back to university. I finished my course in April 2015 after three years of true dedication to my chosen subject, English Language. Those three years were really hard but luckily I had made some wonderful friends during my time at University. Some of these friends I know will be in my life forever.
Once I had finished in April, I had the summer to find a job and discover what the next stage of my life was going to be! But before I had finished, I had an email from my university about a bursary to do a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). Shocked that the email had reached my inbox (my undergraduate is in English Language), I began to enquire more about this opportunity!
After finding out more information, I decided to apply because I honestly didn’t believe I would get it. After all, there are loads of undergraduates in Business and my degree is far from this topic! At the same time I applied, I received a call from a job I had applied for. They invited me in for an interview and low and behold they offered me a full time job in a private investigators! How exciting right?! Well, 3 weeks into this amazing full time job, I receive an email. You guessed it, I got the bursary! A free of charge Master’s… If I want it! Oh my god! At this point, I was really freaking out because my whole life was about to change completely! What would my new job think?! Will they let me work part time now instead?!
Well I was surprised by what happened next as my new job was so supportive of me going part time whilst I completed my Master’s. So in September 2015, I started my MBA course at the University of Gloucestershire. I was scared, nervous and stressed about what I had got myself into! but, a year later, I have made new friends, gained new skills and most importantly, I gained another qualification! I really thought that I would struggle adapting to the MBA programme but it was amazing how many skills I could take form my undergrad and utilise them in my post-grad! How amazing is that?! Now that I have finished, I’m just waiting to graduate so I can wear that silly hate again!
My IBS
In 2014, I was diagnosed with IBS a week before Christmas. I remember leaving my doctor’s office confused, scared and really annoyed! Whilst also being diagnosed with this, I have had to balance my university life on top of changing my diet. Flash forward two years to now, I’m a lot better thank goodness. But, I still get poorly. I am currently following the low fodmap diet in order to help me eliminate certain things in my life. This is has been a hard process for me, whilst also balancing again my student life, work life and well having time to myself! For 6 weeks I have had to cut out a lot of things such as gluten, wheat, lactose, onions, garlic, the list is endless! But, I know I will reap the benefits when I begin the re-introduction diet. If anyone has any tips or has been through this process then please get in touch! I am completely new to this thing!
China and Hong Kong
During my MBA course, I had an amazing opportunity to travel to China and Hong Kong to look at international business and study their culture. This trip was 12 days and it was packed full of visiting lots of businesses and studying the Chinese culture. I loved every second of it and more importantly, I was so proud of myself for going despite my difficulties with my diet. I do not regret taking up this opportunity and to be honest I have never laughed so much in all my life! I spent the whole time with great friends who always made me laugh, even when I was missing home. While it cost me an arm and a leg to get there (visas for China are expensive) it was well worth it! I learnt about the culture, the language and more importantly I met new people! This is something I will definitely be telling my children and my grandchildren about in the future!
Fashion Blogging
I have been thinking about starting a Fashion Blog for a while now and in June 2016, I decided to bite the bullet and set up one. Since then, I have never looked back! I love sharing with you guys my Fashion tips for plus size women as I want everyone to take my advice and feel beautiful in the clothing that they wear! Regardless of what size you are! And now that the blog is growing, I am branching out by even blogging about my personal life, cooking recipes and underwear! I love blogging and I really hope you love my posts!
So that’s pretty much it really! Doesn’t sound like a lot I know but I just had to share with you guys what I have achieved in a year!
